Preview: Wallace Wildcats vs. South Platte Blue Knights

Wallace is 9-0 against South Platte since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Wallace Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the South Platte Blue Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Wallace was able to grind out a solid victory over Medicine Valley, taking the game 53-44. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wallace.

Wallace's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Fisher led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Fisher pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matt Lungrin, who scored 16 points.

Meanwhile, South Platte scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Sutherland on the road to the tune of 63-36. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory South Platte has managed all season.

South Platte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quinten Koenen, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Koenen scored 15 or more points. Cavin Lanman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight steals.

The victory got Wallace back to even at 3-3. As for South Platte, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wallace have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23 rebounds per game. It's a different story for South Platte, though, as they've been averaging only 34.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Wallace beat South Platte 41-34 when the teams last played back in January. Does Wallace have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Platte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
