Jacob Howse and Arik Washington provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Kemper Academy. The connection went for 83 yards, the longest such play in MAIS A District 5 (8 Man) this season.
Russell Christian Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Rams, 62-26. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Warriors.
Russell Christian Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Howse threw for 253 and four touchdowns and Washington had 108 yards receiving. On the ground Washington chipped in 135 yards. Kyle Russell helped Russell Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching five balls for 62 yards.
Ashton Temple made the biggest impact on defense this week as Nate Ballard's team defeated Kemper Academy. The 6-foot-2 junior pulled down two interceptions.
Russell Christian Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Howse has thrown for 943 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, while Ben McGraw has 10 catches for 366 yards. Washington leads the league in rushing with 900 yards.
The marquee game in MAIS A District 5 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between the Warriors and Calhoun Academy. Russell Christian Academy enters the game ranked first in the state, while the Cougars ranks second.
The Warriors' Washington needs only 100 yards against Calhoun Academy next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
