Recap: Knightdale Knights vs. South Garner Titans
It was a good run, but the Knightdale Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They lost to South Garner on the road by a decisive 60-43 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Knightdale has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Knightdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaiah Green. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with five steals. Green is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jamari Williams, who scored six points along with five assists.
South Garner was led to victory by Najai Hines and Loddie Leach. Hines dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks, while Leach scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Leach. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Littles, who scored nine points.
Knightdale's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2. As for South Garner, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Knightdale will head out on the road to face off against East Wake at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. East Wake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Knightdale is ranked 79th). South Garner will be home for the holidays to greet Garner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Garner's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
