Baseball Recap: Burke Drops Season-High Score on Spencerville Adventist Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Burke). Everything went their way against the Spencerville Adventist Academy Hornets on Monday as they made off with a 16-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bengals in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.

Cole Ferguson and Cassius Fiorill did most of the damage at the plate: Ferguson went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Fiorill got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Ferguson a new career-high. Jack Leon also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Burke was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Burke's win bumped their record up to 3-6-1. As for Spencerville Adventist Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Burke will head out to take on Berman Hebrew Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spencerville Adventist Academy, they will face off against Sandy Spring Friends at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
