Soccer Recap: Burns Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Burns can now relate to. They came up short against the Newton-Conover Red Devils on Monday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Burns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Newton-Conover are ranked 18th).

Burns' loss dropped their record down to 15-5-3. As for Newton-Conover, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-1-3 record this season.

Burns does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newton-Conover, they will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. Newton-Conover's defense better be ready for this one: Lincoln Charter have averaged an impressive 4.7 goals per game this season.
