Soccer Game Preview: Weymouth vs. Silver Lake Regional

The Weymouth Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Silver Lake Regional Lakers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Weymouth is headed into Saturday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Wellesley. Weymouth fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Wellesley since Thursday.

Meanwhile, Silver Lake Regional came up short against Hingham on Thursday and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Silver Lake Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Hingham are ranked 29th).

Weymouth's loss dropped their record down to 7-3-1. As for Silver Lake Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Weymouth took their win against Silver Lake Regional in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
