Baseball Recap: Marana Takes a Loss

If Marana was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Rincon/University on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Sunnyside Blue Devils by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Anthony Broussard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Kai Mindoro also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Marana's loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Sunnyside, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marana will venture away from home to square off against Desert Ridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Sunnyside, they will head out to face off against Rincon/University at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
