Football Recap: Big Walnut Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Big Walnut barely beat Westerville South the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Eagles blew past the Wildcats 28-7 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Golden Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 85th).

Big Walnut got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Stumpf out in front who rushed for 35 yards and three scores, and also threw for 182 yards and one touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes. Nolan Buirley helped out on the ground, rushing for 138 yards.

The win was the fourth in a row for Big Walnut, bringing their record up to 4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33 points. As for Westerville South, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Big Walnut will host Padua Franciscan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westerville South, they will welcome Westerville North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
