Softball Recap: DeKalb County Tigers vs. Stone Memorial Panthers
It was a good run, but DeKalb County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Stone Memorial Panthers by a score of 5-4. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Kora Kilgore was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Zayleigh Bain was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Hannah Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
DeKalb County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-6. As for Stone Memorial, their record is now 10-2.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. DeKalb County is set to challenge their familiar foe Upperman at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Stone Memorial will take on rival Cumberland County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
