Volleyball Game Preview: Northwest Rankin Cougars vs. DeSoto Central Jaguars

The Northwest Rankin Cougars will face off against the DeSoto Central Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Northwest Rankin has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while DeSoto Central will arrive with three straight victories.

On Thursday, Northwest Rankin didn't have quite enough to beat Germantown and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, DeSoto Central narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Tupelo 3-2.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (110-105) DeSoto Central actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 26-24, 17-25, 21-25, 15-12.

Northwest Rankin better keep an eye on Remy Mcintosh. She was instrumental in DeSoto Central's win, getting 19 digs and five aces. That's the most aces Mcintosh has posted since back in September of 2024.

DeSoto Central's victory bumped their record up to 19-9. As for Northwest Rankin, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13.

Northwest Rankin suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to DeSoto Central when the teams last played back in August of 2023. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
