Recap: Aquinas Monarchs vs. Raymond Central Mustangs
The Aquinas Monarchs had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over Raymond Central. That's another feather in the cap for Aquinas, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Aquinas can attribute much of their success to Bryant Stouffer, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kasen Lavicky, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Raymond Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Dubas, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavion Johnson, who scored 8 points.
Aquinas' victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Raymond Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Aquinas will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. As for Raymond Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Milford on Saturday.
