Softball Recap: El Reno Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

El Reno came out on top against Clinton on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Indians took their game against the Red Tornadoes 7-3. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Zoey Pawnee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.

At the plate, El Reno let Maddy Brinkman and Brailynn Vickery run wild. Brinkman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Vickery went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Brinkman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Izzy Birdsong, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

El Reno is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, El Reno will be playing at home against Enid at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
