The Scott Eagles will square off against the Conner Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, it was close, but Scott sidestepped Bracken County for a 9-8 win.
Scarlett Cochran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Emerson Morman was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elise Manhardt, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conner). They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Ludlow on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Conner also got a great performance from Bayli Bell as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Bre Meredith and Averie Lightner did most of the damage at the plate: Meredith went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Lightner went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Addison Santiago was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Conner hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ludlow struck out seven times.
Conner's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Scott, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
