Basketball Recap: Palm Desert Extends Winning Streak to Three

After losing to Royal the last time they met, Palm Desert decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Aztecs were the clear victors by a 78-52 margin over the Highlanders on Monday. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Palm Desert's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Brande, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Brande is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last three games he's played. Wil Wilson was another key player, going 9-for-12 en route to 20 points.

Palm Desert was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Royal only racked up nine.

Royal lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Justin Albert, who posted 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Blake Christiansen, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

The win (which was Palm Desert's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. As for Royal, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Palm Desert didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-49 victory against Twentynine Palms on the 5th. As for Royal, they have also already played their next contest, a 64-55 win against St. Monica Academy on the 2nd.
