Softball Recap: Dinuba Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Dinuba came tearing into Friday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hanford Bullpups by a score of 5-1. The Emperors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bullpups, too.

Neveah Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kiley Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Ortega, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Dinuba pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Hanford, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.

Coming up, Dinuba will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Tulare Western at 6:00 p.m. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Emperors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hanford, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-6 win against Sierra Pacific on the 7th.
