Basketball Recap: Hayward Starts off Right with Win over St. Croix Falls

Hayward had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with an 84-74 victory over the St. Croix Falls Saints. The Hurricanes' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Hayward's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Hansen, who posted 25 points. Those 25 points gave Hansen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Springer, who put up 20 points.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hayward is set to challenge their familiar foe Barron at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, St. Croix Falls will face off against rival Ladysmith at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
