Basketball Recap: Northern Valley Huskies vs. Triplains/Brewster Titans
Northern Valley had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 57-31 margin over the Triplains/Brewster Titans. The Huskies not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since December 12, 2024 (when they won 65-35).

Northern Valley was led to victory by Tait Thalheim and Gavin Thalheim. Tait almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine rebounds, while Gavin shot 41% from the field on his way to 21 points along with six boards and six steals. Tait's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points.
Northern Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triplains/Brewster only posted six.
Triplains/Brewster's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Bergsten, who posted three points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kaden Williamson, who put up six points along with 15 boards and four steals.
Triplains/Brewster's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Coming up, Northern Valley will take on Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Triplains/Brewster, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greeley County at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th.
