Softball Game Preview: Pasco Pirates vs. Academy at the Lakes Wildcats

The Pasco Pirates will square off against the Academy at the Lakes Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pasco came up short against Lake Minneola on Monday, falling 15-4.

Abigail Grubbs was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Montelongo, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Montelongo also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Sophia Torres was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Academy at the Lakes lost 9-2 to Gulf two weeks ago. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Academy at the Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Pasco, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
