Baseball Recap: Silverado Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Silverado dropped their record down to 10-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Barstow Aztecs, falling 15-7. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Aztecs earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Silverado saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Pauling, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Micheal Bejarano also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

As for Barstow, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. The game was the first time they have beaten Silverado on their field since April 26, 2023.

On Barstow's side, Noah Gudino made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Gudino is becoming a predictor of Barstow's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Gudino was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kekoa Samples was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cruze Arroyo, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Silverado is set to take on their familiar foe Victor Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Barstow will face off against rival Granite Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: the Aztecs have lost three straight at home , while the Cougars have lost three on the road.
