Softball Recap: Wilmington Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wilmington won the last time they faced Herscher and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-2 win over the Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Taryn Gilbert made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Gilbert wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madisyn Rossow, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Rossow has posted since back in March. Keeley Walsh was another, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Wilmington's record is now 11-2. As for Herscher, they moved to 9-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wilmington beat the Tigers by a score of 13-3 on Tuesday.
