Softball Game Preview: Centennial Spartans vs. Mansfield Timberview Wolves

Centennial has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mansfield Timberview recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Spartans will host the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Centennial is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 13 games.

Centennial had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Burleson on Tuesday. The Spartans blew past the Elks 12-2. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Brooke Mayner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalie Randall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Lexie Arthur, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mansfield Timberview earned a 13-8 victory over Seguin on Tuesday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 25-6-1. As for Mansfield Timberview, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.
