Softball Recap: Orleans Gets the Win

While Orleans's victory against South Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Rebels on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since May 26, 2025.

Ella Owens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Orleans got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Mahan, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Mahan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsea Ralph, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Orleans' win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for South Central, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orleans will take on Loogootee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for South Central, they will face off against Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
