Basketball Game Preview: West Park Panthers vs. Destiny Christian Academy Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the West Park Panthers challenge the Destiny Christian Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday... West Park is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Last Monday, West Park beat Cordova 51-41. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Lancers are ranked 1004th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Destiny Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 60-37 margin over Grant on Monday. The score was close at the half, but the Lions pulled away in the second half with 38 points.

Destiny Christian Academy's win came from a few key players West Park will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylen Valdez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jephte Tambala, who went 7 of 9 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

West Park's record is now 10-6. As for Destiny Christian Academy, their record now sits at 6-8.
