Baseball Recap: Holy Name Victorious

Holy Name hadn't done well against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Green Wave sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Royals. This was payback for the Green Wave, who suffered a 6-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Luke Hudak looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chance Apathy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Holy Name is 2-1 when Apathy posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. Joe Svetz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Holy Name's record is now 5-7. As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.

Holy Name didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Benedictine on the 27th. As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 4-3 victory against Norwayne on the 25th.
