After a string of four wins, Athens's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Athens saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Davis Ishmael, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Athens' loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Maroa-Forsyth, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will face off against Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Crimsons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bismarck-Henning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
