Baseball Game Preview: Delavan Panthers vs. Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats

The Delavan Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Cuba/Spoon River Valley Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Delavan is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Delavan didn't have quite enough to beat Olympia and fell 3-2.

Delavan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Kight-Garlisch, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Cuba/Spoon River Valley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Peoria Heights on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Patriots. Considering the Wildcats have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Delavan's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Cuba/Spoon River Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-11.

Delavan got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Cuba/Spoon River Valley by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
