Volleyball Recap: Calhoun County Saints vs. Williston-Elko Blue Devils

Calhoun County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Williston-Elko Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Calhoun County started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-20.

Cassidy Pough paced Calhoun County's offense, picking up 21 kills. Pough got some help from Tyera Wannamaker and her 13 assists. Lucy Robinson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Calhoun County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Williston-Elko, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calhoun County will take on C.A. Johnson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Williston-Elko, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Blackville-Hilda at 5:30 p.m. on the 20th.
