Baseball Recap: Southwest Find Success

After only two runs in their last matchup, Southwest made sure to put some runs up on the board against Coral Park on Thursday. The Eagles walked away with an 11-8 win over the Rams. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.

Tyler Villamor looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Michael Cabrera, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Salazar, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Southwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Southwest's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Coral Park, their defeat was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-19.

Looking ahead, Southwest will square off against Coral Reef at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Coral Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
