Softball Preview: Temple Wildcats vs. Bryan Vikings
The Temple Wildcats will face off against the Bryan Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bryan took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Temple, who comes in off a win.
Temple made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Killeen, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Temple's pitcher stepped up to hand Killeen a 19-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Kaitlyn Teeters made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Saniya Maxwell was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Nalicia Crathers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Temple hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bryan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shoemaker.
Bryan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Temple, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1.
