Basketball Recap: Elgin Drops Highest Score of Season Against Streamwood

The third road contest was the charm for Elgin, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They walked away with a 63-55 win over the Streamwood Sabres on Friday. The Maroons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Defeat or not, Streamwood got some senior leadership from Damarion Smith and Jesse Sanchez. Smith dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards, while Sanchez dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards set a new season-high mark for Smith. Aden Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Elgin's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Streamwood, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.

Coming up, Elgin will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fenton at 7:00 p.m. As for Streamwood, they and Downers Grove South will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The Sabres will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
