Basketball Recap: Gabe Gerth's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric over Lakewood Presbyterian

Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakewood Presbyterian Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-43 last Tuesday.

Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Gerth, who posted 15 points. The game was Gerth's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Cohen Blanchard, who earned 13 points.

Lakewood Presbyterian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Judah Allen, who went 6-for-8 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Montgomery, who scored nine points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Lakewood Presbyterian, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Coincidentally, Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric and Lakewood Presbyterian will both be playing Harvest Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Lakewood Presbyterian will host Harvest Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
