Preview: Genesis Prep Panthers vs. Web of Wisdom Wizards
Genesis Prep has been on the road for five straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Web of Wisdom Wizards at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Genesis Prep is ranked 805th, while Web of Wisdom is ranked 801st).
On Friday, Genesis Prep came up short against Classical Christian School for the Arts and fell 36-26.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Web of Wisdom walked away with it. They breezed by the Sea Shepherds on the road to the tune of 49-15 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for Web of Wisdom as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Web of Wisdom found their leader in underclassman Taylor Smith, who scored 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Web of Wisdom's points. Another player making a difference was Jason Johnson, who scored 12 points.
Genesis Prep dropped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Web of Wisdom, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Genesis Prep came up short against Web of Wisdom in their previous meeting back in January, falling 40-33. Can Genesis Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
