Softball Game Preview: Olympian Eagles vs. Southwest EC Eagles

Olympian will challenge Southwest EC at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Southwest EC will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Olympian extended their winning streak to four on Friday. Everything went the Eagles' way against Chula Vista as they made off with an 11-1 victory.

Alexandra Perez looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacqui De Murguia, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Kailynn Robeson was another key player, earning one RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Southwest EC never let their opponents score last Thursday. Everything went their way against Palo Verde Valley as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Southwest EC is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Olympian, their win bumped their record up to 10-12-1.

Olympian was able to grind out a solid victory over Southwest EC in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 5-1. Does Olympian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southwest EC turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
