Baseball Recap: Watertown Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Watertown nor Oregon made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Goslings took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The contest marked the Goslings' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Brady Lessner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Cameron Kranz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Hurtgen, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

This is the second loss in a row for Watertown and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Oregon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watertown will welcome Fort Atkinson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Oregon, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against DeForest at 11:00 a.m. The Norskies will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
