Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Etiwanda's Eighth in Last Nine Outings + How To Watch

It was a Battle of the Birds when Etiwanda took on Yucaipa on Wednesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Thunderbirds. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2022.

Etiwanda never let Yucaipa on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-10, 25-16.

Etiwanda got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alannis Machuca out in front who had seven digs and two aces. What's more, Machuca racked up 12 assists, the most she's had over her last eight contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Meaalofa Tauaese, who had 12 assists and four digs.

They weren't the only good server: Etiwanda was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 13 consecutive games.

Etiwanda has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Yucaipa, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10.

Coming up, Etiwanda will head out on the road to challenge Orange Lutheran at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Yucaipa, they will be taking part in a tournament against El Dorado at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
