Softball Recap: Notre Dame-Green Pond Beats Catasauqua for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Notre Dame-Green Pond put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 26-4 margin over the Catasauqua Rough Riders. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rough Riders, too.

Emily Szczepanski looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Natalie Lilly and Riley Palank did most of the damage at the plate: Lilly went a perfect 4-for-4 with eight RBI, four runs, and two doubles, while Palank went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. With that strong performance, Lilly is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Sydney Ryan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Notre Dame-Green Pond lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Notre Dame-Green Pond pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.5 runs over those games. As for Catasauqua, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Notre Dame-Green Pond will be playing at home against Saucon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Catasauqua, they are taking a road trip to square off against Palmerton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rough Riders are facing the Blue Bombers at the right time seeing as the Blue Bombers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
