Baseball Recap: Jacksonville Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Jacksonville had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Mattoon on Saturday. The Crimsons were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Greenwave. The Crimsons' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Jacksonville let Cy Kershaw and Nolan Peters run wild. Kershaw went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run, while Peters went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those four RBI gave Kershaw a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Harney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Jacksonville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mattoon only posted an OBP of .222.

Jacksonville's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Mattoon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-2.

Jacksonville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-3 victory against Lincoln on the 24th. As for Mattoon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Marshall on the 25th.
