Landon Kimbler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Neal, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kase McIntyre also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Green hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central came up short against Dawson-Bryant on Monday and fell 12-9.
Carson Lyons and Landon Rowe did some serious damage despite the final result: Lyons scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Rowe scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Blake Medinger, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
St. Joseph Central's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Green, their record now sits at 3-1.
Everything went Green's way against St. Joseph Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Green made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
