Softball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Foothill can now relate to. They lost 11-2 to the Las Plumas Thunderbirds on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 back in April.

Foothill saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Nichols, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Foothill has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-14 record this season. As for Las Plumas, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 26-1-1.

Foothill and Las Plumas are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cougars will challenge Chico at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Foothill's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Las Plumas, they will square off against Pleasant Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Thunderbirds 2.7, the Vikings 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
