Baseball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it 16. They came up short against the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts, falling 15-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Lloyd Memorial, the victory got them back to even at 7-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Lloyd Memorial's part, the team relied heavily on Luke Landers, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Landers is becoming a predictor of the Juggernauts' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Jayden Jasper also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holmes will host Villa Madonna at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lloyd Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Brossart at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
