Softball Recap: Charles Henderson Trojans vs. Pike Road Patriots
Charles Henderson had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it five. They lost 13-1 to the Pike Road Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 two weeks ago.
Charles Henderson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jada Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Pike Road, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-22 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.
On Pike Road's side, Ava Milton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Milton is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charles Henderson will challenge Greenville at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Pike Road, they will square off against Park Crossing at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
