Basketball Recap: Modesto Gets the Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Modesto ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pitman Pride, sneaking past 49-47. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 44-29 win the Pride walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2025.

Maeve Kidd was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. What's more, she posted two blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2025. Allison Marchy was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight boards.

Modesto was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pitman's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dailynn Greener, who had 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Greener is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Bedoya, who scored seven points.

With the victory, Modesto broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-15. As for Pitman, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Modesto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-15 defeat against Gregori on the 20th. As for Pitman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-43 win against Enochs on the 20th.
