Basketball Recap: Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos vs. Seeger Patriots

A well-balanced attack led Lafayette Jefferson over Seeger in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Bronchos put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 53-31 victory. Lafayette Jefferson had a senior duo take command as Maya Layton almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards and Shaylee Barrett posted 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barrett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambria Marcus, who scored five points and six rebounds.

Lafayette Jefferson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Seeger still got an impressive performance from Caleigh Purcell, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Thanks to that strong game, Purcell now owns an excellent 50% three-point shooting accuracy.

Lafayette Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Seeger, they dropped their record down to 3-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
