Cahokia had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 36-13 margin over the Jacksonville Crimsons on Saturday. The Comanches might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Cahokia was led to victory by Nigel Gooden and Machai Henderson. Gooden threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, while Henderson rushed for 125 yards and one TD. That's the most passing touchdowns Gooden has posted since back in September.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cahokia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 299 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Jacksonville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jeremiah Jackson, who picked up 91 receiving yards, and also rushed for 60 yards on only seven carries. Another rusher making a difference was Easton Ackerman, who rushed for 128 yards.
Cahokia's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Jacksonville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.
Cahokia wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 36-12 defeat against Breese Central on the 15th. Jacksonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
