Basketball Game Preview: The Daniel Academy Lions vs. Independence Home School Lions

The Daniel Academy Lions will take on the Independence Home School Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Daniel Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, The Daniel Academy lost to Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri at home by a 55-37 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Crusaders are ranked 106th).

Meanwhile, Independence Home School came up short against Midland Adventist Academy on Tuesday and fell 55-45. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The Daniel Academy will have to keep a close watch on Joe Young and Philip Cresswell, a pair of players who had a big impact on Independence Home School's prior game. Young posted 21 points, while Cresswell earned 13 points.

The Daniel Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-5. As for Independence Home School, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

The Daniel Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Independence Home School in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win.
