Baseball Recap: East Duplin Triumphs

East Duplin won the last time they faced Wallace-Rose Hill and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs.

East Duplin got a great performance from Kyle Kern as he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Kern has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, East Duplin saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Holmes, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Holmes is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

East Duplin's record now sits at 8-6. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Duplin will welcome North Lenoir at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Kinston at 4:00 p.m. The Bulldogs are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
