Basketball Recap: Gretna East Comes Up Short

Gretna East lost against Pius X back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Gretna East Griffins took a blow against the Pius X Thunderbolts, falling 61-32. The matchup marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Drew Rhoades and Drayke Brown certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Rhoades posted seven points, while Brown put up seven points. Rhoades also posted a block, marking his first of the season.

Gretna East dropped their record down to 10-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Pius X, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Gretna East will head out to face off against Gretna at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Pius X, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Norris at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Norris knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Pius X likes a good challenge.
