Baseball Game Preview: Donna North Chiefs vs. Weslaco East Wildcats

The Donna North Chiefs will square off against the Weslaco East Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Donna North turned things around against Pace on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Vikings.

Meanwhile, Weslaco East waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Cowboys. Considering the Wildcats have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Antonio Solis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Solis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Weslaco East got a massive performance out of Brian Perez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Perez has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was James Abrego, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

Weslaco East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Donna North's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Weslaco East, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.

Donna North might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Weslaco East in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
