Softball Preview: Buchholz Bobcats vs. Bradford Tornadoes
The Buchholz Bobcats will head out on the road to take on the Bradford Tornadoes at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Friday, Buchholz came up short against Bartram Trail and fell 6-1. The game marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Buchholz saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Parker, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Bradford had taken Union County down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end two weeks ago. Bradford lost 22-16 to Union County.
Kallie Yowell and Addyson Hinds did some serious damage despite the final result: Yowell fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances, while Hinds fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-5. Yowell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Amber Wynn was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Bradford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .480 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Bradford now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Buchholz, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Buchholz couldn't quite get it done against Bradford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 16-12. Can Buchholz avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
