Baseball Recap: Walsh Jesuit Finds Playoff Glory Versus Stow-Munroe Falls

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Walsh Jesuit had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs 2-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Shawn Sullivan tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Holcomb, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Matthew Mansbery was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Walsh Jesuit has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, they moved to 14-17 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Walsh Jesuit will challenge Lakewood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rangers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Stow-Munroe Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
